Are you doing happy work?

I recently had a two hour flight during which I read a magazine article discussing Opus Dei (the practice of Catholicism made famous, or infamous, in Dan Brown’s “Da Vinci Code”). Although I still don’t know much about it I must admit I was fascinated by the concept that practitioners live their life “doing God’s work” in everything they do.

It made me think…do I practice happiness in everything I do? Do you?

Let’s start a “conversation” around things people do to really live happiness every minute of every day, in everything they do!

As one of the Catholics, I live a fairly happy life.

I’m blest with a job I’d do without pay, if someone else would take care of my family.

I enjoy mowing my lawn and weeding my garden as I feel close to God.

Today while going up and down the staircase at work, I found myself singing the Divine Mercy prayers as I went.

I may never reach the every minute of every day standard, but I try to come close to it.

    God bless and keep you…

What a wonderfully happy blog I have stumbled on - thank you! Just reading your website has made my day happier :)

But to continue in the ‘conversation’ about what we do in our everyday life that makes us happy…well when I am not surrounded by my precious friends, I guess that when I am standing at the bus stop at dawn, instead of focusing on the day ahead at work, I close my eyes and listen for the birds that chirp and sing their merry tunes from the tree tops. That makes me happy inside. Happy because I am recognising the small happiness’s that surround us each day, at every moment.

Peace, love and happiness Orangeblossom xxx

I really believe that it it is what you concentrate on that directs your mindset. I commend members of Opus Dei for making a concious choice to direct their own minds towards that which fulfills them. I know from my own experience with happiness and unhappiness, that as soon as I direct my thoughts in the right direction I have all of the happiness I need. I accept fully that there are some things that I do not have the luxury of thinking if I want to follow my goals of being consistently happy in the world

    love love love, KayWhy
